Gear Upgrading & Enchantment Flipping Guide

Published: June 29, 2026 • By ScanAlbion Team

An excellent method for earning silver in Albion Online is buying low-enchantment items (e.g., Tier 6.0), purchasing the corresponding upgrade materials (Runes, Souls, Relics, or Siphoned Energy), upgrading them at the artifact foundry, and selling them as .1, .2, .3, or .4 gear.

Upgrade Materials Count by Slot

The number of materials required to upgrade an item depends on its tier and equipment slot type. The standard upgrade paths require:

  • .0 -> .1: Runes
  • .1 -> .2: Souls
  • .2 -> .3: Relics
  • .3 -> .4: Siphoned Energy / Avalonian Shards

The material counts required for upgrading are structured as follows:

  • Two-Handed Weapons: 384 materials
  • One-Handed Weapons (Main Hand): 288 materials
  • Armor, Bags: 192 materials
  • Off-hands, Head, Shoes, Capes, Backpacks, Tools: 96 materials

Analyzing Profitability

To calculate whether upgrading is profitable, use the following formula:

Total Cost = Buy Price of Low-Enchant Item + (Material Price * Material Count)

If the target enchantment item's market price exceeds the Total Cost plus market transaction fees (listing fee and tax), you have a guaranteed profit! ScanAlbion's Upgrade Flip tool automatically tracks rune, soul, relic, and energy prices across all cities to scan for these margins instantly.
