Gear Upgrading & Enchantment Flipping: Materials Guide

Enchantment flipping involves buying cheap flat gear, purchasing upgrading materials (runes/souls/relics), enchanting the items, and selling them for a premium. This guide explains how to calculate the margins.

Flipping Calculations

Calculate the total cost: Cost = ItemPrice(Flat) + MaterialCount * MaterialPrice. Compare this with the market price of the enchanted version. High-tier off-hands (like Taproots or Cryptcandils) offer the highest enchantment margins because their material cost is low (only 96 runes/souls) but their enchanted price scales dramatically.

Material Counts by Slot Type

The number of runes, souls, relics, or siphoned energy required for enchantment depends on the slot type:

  • Two-Handed Weapons: 384 materials
  • One-Handed Weapons (Main Hand): 288 materials
  • Armor, Bags: 192 materials
  • Helmet, Shoes, Cape, Off-hand: 96 materials
